“Auto Financing” is a general term meaning how you pay for the vehicle. In most cases, cars are financed by signing an auto loan. It’s about getting a credit check. Financing your car needs as much research and homework as choosing the car. You can also obtain financing through the dealer or automaker. It is possible that the dealer or manufacturer financing will cost you more.

There will be occasions when a dealer will give you the best deal. Unfortunately, those occasions are not predictable  and the only way to be sure is comparison. Interest rates on new cars are lower than in the used vehicles. And in general, new cars can be financed over longer periods than those used. This equation can make a new car cheaper than one that is used in many case.

Financing

Determine your needs before starting to learn about how to obtain adequate financing for the car.  Once you have selected a vehicle that you feel comfortable with a little background research on the car.

What is the real interest rate I will pay and what I have to make a down payment? The APR (annual rate) is the best way to know the exact amount of the interest rate they are paying. Is the real interest rate you pay annually on the unpaid balance of the loan. The rate offered will depend largely on your credit score. Most companies are not demanding payment, but some require a down payment.

If your application is approved this information will be provided by the lender before signing any documents. Some dealers offer financing with low interest rate initially and then call it in a day or two later to say he could not get you financed at the rate they quoted

Make sure you know who the person is funding for you and the deal is sealed before leaving the lot. If there is any question, tell the dealer you’ll come back and put the car in which everything is resolved.

Know Your Amount Of Finance

Do not allow a number to master. For example, a very low down payment is not in itself a guarantee of a good deal. You need to consider all the numbers to know what kind of deal  you are receiving.

Read and understand every word of every document you sign.
